WASHINGTON POST: Is organic agriculture really better for the environment?

An interesting look at organic and conventionally grown agriculture by Washington Post Columnist, Tamar Haspel, that focuses on the environmental impacts and safety and nutrition of produce.

But more important than direct (complex) comparisons, Haspel asserts that the negative organic-vs.-conventional polarization harms public debate and prevents progress. Her research shows that nearly everyone--from growers to academic researchers and regulatory agencies--supports improving farming practices. She concludes that of the many ways to feed the growing population, 'organic and conventional, large-scale and small, urban and rural'...'we need all of them'.
